The quietest place on earth is a sound studio in Minneapolis, which is only -9.4 dBA loud. It’s so quiet that there is a running bet over a case of beer for anyone who can stay in the studio for 45 minutes with the lights off. So far no one has lasted over 30. When John Cage visited a similar anechoic chamber, he said he “heard two sounds, one high and one low.
